Children of Cambodia

I have just spent a few days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and was shocked by the contrast that exists there between the local living conditions and the excessive tourist traps. Angkor Wat was obviously enchanting, but what impacted me more was a visit to the Angkor Children's Hospital, which was established thanks to the compassion of a Japanese photographer and the generosity of foreign aid. It seems odd to me that while the Cambodian government has the resources to build large military monuments and restore religious relics, it does not appear to be able to provide basic shelter for its citizens or afford its children essential medical care.

Colours of my Life

I have recently entered a competition called Colors of my Life, which is a search for the two images that best express the colours, tones and shades in peoples' personal worlds. These are mine...the first is of a dance troupe performing in a park in Harlem, New York, and the other is of dancer Irene Cioni in a farmhouse in Tuscany.

P.S. Feb 4th 2009 - I have just been informed that one of my images was chosen to be published in the Colors of My Life book in Europe!

'Tis the season to be jolly...

Well, as the holiday season approaches, everyone again seems to be getting caught up in the frantic pull of commercialism, and forgetting what it's supposed to be all about...I thought I'd try to remind you what that is by posting these images of my friend Ronit's children: Ramona, Maor and Ramel.

This is what the holiday season looks like in this part of the world. I'm off to Cambodia and Vietnam tomorrow, to share some quality time with my family and hopefully to take some inspiring photos of another part of the world. Merry Christmas, Chanuka Sameach and Happy new Year!

Skinny Nelson & Friends

Fashion designer Jacqui Alexander has teamed up with her gorgeous partner Zac Midalia to create Skinny Nelson & Friends, a collection of funky organic cotton basics whose wearable ways are limited only by your imagination. Considering the superficialities that can often come with the fashion industry, it's always great to be involved in a project which considers its own impact on the environment, at the same time as making you look good. Very fun shoot too!

Fresh Milk

I'm entering some of my images into a competition for Milk Photos' new publication, Fresh Milk. It's the next book in the series that we've all come to know and adore, about the special moments of Friendship, Family, Love and Laughter. How I'd love to see even one of my images in such a great format!
